Is your child bright and creative, but often drops the ball on assignments? Or are they scrambling to study when a test is right around the corner? Coaching will give your student strategies to become organized, stay on top of their schedule, and take control of their academic success.
Students who are self-aware become self-regulated learners and take ownership of their success. Through taking time to get to know your student, we will help them understand how to apply their strengths and recognize their weaknesses. Together, we will build a system customized to the way their brain functions.
Is your student under-performing on tests that they seemed prepared for? We will work with your student to develop strategies that lead to deeper understanding and higher level thinking.
Big dreams, but not sure how to get there? We always tell students that any large or seemingly daunting task is simply many smaller, manageable tasks combined. We will work with your student to create a clear path toward completion.
When students have the tools to successfully manage their lives, they are confident to take on new and challenging tasks. True potential can only be reached when a student believes in themselves.
Self-management skills enable students to be proactive rather than reactive. These skills serve students for a lifetime and empower them to embrace the challenges of school and life in the real world.
Through the process of academic coaching, we have found that together, we are able to identify, discuss, address and find solutions to these challenges.
Hi, I'm Amelia Owens, owner of Valiant Academic Coaching. My husband and I live in Dallas with our three young children. Originally from Southern California, I have a Bachelor's Degree in Communications and a Master's Degree in Education in addition to over nine years of experience in the field. While working as a classroom teacher, I discovered my passion was one-on-one student intervention. I often found that when teachers and parents were trying to lift student performance, they were putting a "band-aid" on the problem instead of addressing the root cause of the issue. I learned that students are stunted until they understand who they are and how to help themselves. Real progress occurs only when new habits are formed. My goal is to build a relationship with your student, to meet them where they are, and to help them discover their potential through concrete action steps toward success.
